The geyser prices vary according to their size. Insurance policies which cover geyser failure will normally list certain size geysers and note an insured limit for each size geyser being replaced. Owners are then covered for geyser failures, up to those limits, depending on geyser size being replaced.
The insurance policy limits set for the replacement of geysers are for a like-for-like basis and some insurers will assist owners (the insured party) by paying the geyser limit for the geyser being replaced but allowing the owner to contribute extra in order that they may upgrade or have a larger size geyser installed where required. Some policies also include an environmental upgrade option which assists owners upgrade to solar and so on.
Insurance brokers and underwriters can also structure some policies to include the upgrade option for stainless-steel so that there is no contribution to make at claims stage.
Optimum geyser sizes are usually dependent on the number of people using it. A home will usually have a geyser size installed relative to the size of the home and the number of people estimated to live in it. So, a one bedroomed apartment might have a 100-litre tank, two to three bedrooms, a 150-litre tank, a larger house 200 litres or even two tanks
